A few important information:

COMPETITIONS

According to WAKO Rules and decisions of the WAKO IF Board, all competitions (local, national, regional, continental and world), seminars and camps MUST be conducted via the Sport Data web page.
Organizers of international competitions, seminars and camps must submit a completed form.
Registrations must be opened in official WAKO categories with the listed codes. The list of official and unofficial categories with the codes and years of birth of the age categories is attached (Note: the list of unofficial categories will be aligned with the proposal of the WAKO Organizing Committee, in the meantime, if competition organizers want to include unofficial categories in their competitions, they need to contact the WAKO Technical Director).
At national, continental and world championships, competition is allowed ONLY in official WAKO categories.
The organizers of the World and Continental Cups have the right to organize the Open Cup (in official WAKO categories - e.g. beginners) at the same time and in the same place as the World or Continental Cup, but registrations must be separate on the Sport Data platform, as well as awards and medals which should be smaller.
Registrations for World and Continental championships are allowed only for national teams.
Registrations for all other competitions - World and Continental cups, Open tournaments and National championships are intended ONLY FOR CLUBS - club competitions.
ALL PARTICIPANTS (competitors, coaches, referees and judges and all officials) at all WAKO events - competitions, seminars and camps MUST be registered on the Sport Data event web subpage according to the role they have at said event.

RANKING COMPETITIONS

In accordance with the decision of the WAKO IF Board, WAKO continental federations will organize continental cups in 2025, namely: WAKO Europe 4, WAKO Asia 3, WAKO Panamerica 3, WAKO Africa 1 and WAKO Oceania 1. Some of those continental cups will be defined in more detail soon.

Ranking criteria is based on an accumulation of points in the previous two calendar years (WAKO Rules – General Rules – Article 3.6.2. – from the following competitions in 2025:

EQUIPMENT AND CLOTHING

By WAKO Rules the only equipment permitted at WAKO events, at all levels (local, regional, national, international) for the period 2024-2027 without hinderance in accordance with WAKO regulations and contracts - and WAKO Members cannot limit their rights by entering into exclusivity agreements regarding the national markets with any WAKO supplier - is the WAKO approved safety equipment of the following suppliers:

Any other brand different from the above ones must be forbidden at any WAKO event, at all levels (local, regional, national, international). It is responsibility of the National Federations and the referees to ensure this is strictly adhered to, so please make sure all of your referees and judges are well aware of these WAKO Rules.
As previously communicated, we also would like to re-confirm that the use of the WAKO labelled safety equipment produced by the above listed WAKO approved brands only becomes mandatory at all WAKO events globally starting from 1^st January 2025.

As regards clothing;

In 2025 only WAKO World, Continental Championships and World Cups require that all field of play clothing will require the WAKO approved labelling.

In 2026, all events (international, national and continental) will require all field of play clothing with the required WAKO approved labelling.

MEDICAL CERTIFICATE

At the proposal of the WAKO Medical and Antidoping Committee (Chairman Dr. Massimiliano Bianco), the WAKO IF Board unanimously decided to change the WAKO Medical rules and the WAKO Medical Certificate.
Attached is a new WAKO Medical certificate on which the mandatory examinations (see second page), that must be performed in order to obtain a correct and valid medical certificate, have been changed.
For all competitors who got a medical certificate according to the old form before October 15, 2024, that is still valid, the official doctor at the Continental Championship will accept the medical certificate issued on the old form.
All competitors who received a medical certificate after October 15 are required to undergo medical examinations as stated on the second page of the new form of WAKO Medical certificate (in attachment).
It is the responsibility of the athlete, coach and national federation (failure to comply with one does not exclude the responsibility of the others) that the competitor has a valid and correct medical certificate filled out, signed and stamped by an official / approved doctor of the national federation.
